How to Program Volumetrics – Linea PB AV

⚡ Before you start

  • Machine should be on and warmed up (groups at operating temp).

  • Have a scale and shot glasses handy to measure yield.

  • Use the same coffee and recipe you plan to serve.

  • Make sure you’re programming the correct group head (each group can be set independently).

🔧 Steps to Program a Volumetric Dose

  1. Enter programming mode

    • On the PB, press and hold the continuous flow button (the far-right button with the infinity symbol) for about 5 seconds until the LED above it blinks.

    • You are now in programming mode.

  2. Select the button you want to program

    • Choose which volumetric button (single, double, triple, etc.) you want to program.

    • Press that button once — the machine will start brewing.

  3. Pull your programmed shot

    • Let the espresso run until you reach the desired output (e.g. 36 g yield for a double shot).

    • Press the same button again to stop the flow.

    • The machine now memorises that volume.

  4. Repeat for other buttons

    • Program each button (single, double, etc.) following the same process.

  5. Exit programming mode

    • When finished, press the continuous flow button again.

    • The LED will stop blinking, confirming programming is saved.

✅ Tips for Best Results

  • Purge before programming — always flush the group before pulling your programmed shot.

  • Program using the coffee you normally use — different coffees and grind sizes can change flow rates.

  • If you change grind size significantly, you may want to re-program doses to maintain consistency.

  • Program with scale under cup to ensure you’re hitting your brew ratio, not just relying on volume in ml.

Example Setup

  • Button 1: Single shot – 18 g in, 36 g out (1:2 ratio)

  • Button 2: Double shot – 20 g in, 40 g out

  • Button 3: Ristretto – shorter ratio (e.g. 20 g in, 28 g out)

  • Button 4: Lungo – longer ratio (e.g. 20 g in, 50 g out)
