Cleaning your E65 GBW Grinder
🧽 What you’ll need
-
Grinder brush (soft bristles)
-
Vacuum cleaner (optional, but very useful)
-
Food-safe grinder cleaner pellets (e.g. Grindz)
-
Soft, dry cloth
-
Flathead screwdriver / Allen key (for burr chamber access)
⚡ Safety First
-
Switch off and unplug the grinder before starting.
-
Make sure the hopper is empty.
🪣 Daily Clean (quick and simple)
-
Empty the hopper – pour any beans back into an airtight container.
-
Wipe the hopper with a soft, dry cloth (no water inside the hopper as moisture can cause clogging).
-
Run cleaning pellets through the grinder (optional, every few days):
-
Add a small handful of Grindz pellets into the hopper.
-
Grind them through on a medium setting.
-
Follow up with a small dose of coffee beans to push out any residue.
-
-
Wipe exterior of the grinder with a clean, damp cloth (avoid getting water near the grind adjustment or electronics).
🔧 Weekly / Deeper Clean
-
Remove hopper – wash with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry fully before reattaching.
-
Access the burr chamber:
-
Loosen/remove the adjustment collar using the release screws.
-
Carefully lift off the top burr carrier.
-
-
Brush out coffee residues from both burrs and the grind chamber.
-
Use a vacuum to remove fine particles (do not use water).
-
-
Inspect burrs for wear or damage. Replace if dull or chipped.
-
Reassemble: put the burrs back, tighten the collar, and recalibrate if needed.
🕐 Monthly / As Needed
-
Check calibration: make sure your “zero point” (where burrs just touch) still aligns with your grind reference.
-
Inspect seals and screws. Tighten if anything has loosened with vibration.
✅ Pro tip: Never use water on the burrs or inside the grind chamber—always keep it dry. Moisture leads to rust and clumping.
